Fake It Till You Make It

I'm not very good at it.

Period.

That's one of my least favorite AA sayings. I don't think it came out of the Big Book.

that's because your not supposed to fake it anymore. In recovery we need to learn how to let things out. We don't start off as these wonderful people with wonderful insights about how we are feeling, we start by getting a good old case of "diarrhea of the mouth" and letting it all out very ungracefully. It takes the help of your HP and sponsor and recovery friends to help you learn how to talk about who or what is bothering you. It takes practice to learn to speak up for yourself gracefully. So why are you trying to fake anything?! Just let it out. It will be OK, this too shall pass, a lot quicker if you let it out I might add. Remember it is progress, not perfection, and faking whatever it is, is just a form of trying to control an outcome or situation. Powerless is the first step. hugs..
